What is an ATS and why is it important?
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is software employers use to collect, sort, and manage the hundreds of resumes they receive for each job posting. Instead of a human reviewing every resume, the ATS scans each document first, pulling out key information such as job titles, dates, skills, and keywords. Recruiters then review only the candidates the system flags as the most relevant.
Why it matters:
Most employers, regardless of size, use an ATS as their first gatekeeper. If your resume is not formatted correctly or does not include the right language, it may never make it to a human reviewer, even if you’re an excellent fit for the role. That means a resume that looks good isn’t enough; it must also be ATS-friendly, which includes:
Clear, searchable formatting
Standard section headings (Experience, Education, Skills)
No complex tables, graphics, or columns that ATS tools can’t read
Strategically placed keywords that match the job description
Logical sequencing of job titles, companies, and dates
Industry estimates suggest that a majority of resumes submitted online may not reach a human reviewer in any meaningful way. Often due to ATS filters, applicant volume or low match scores. A professionally written, ATS-optimized resume ensures your experience is not only appealing to hiring managers, but also interpretable by the technology screening thousands of applicants ahead of you.
Will my resume work with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)?
Yes. We write resumes specifically to be ATS-friendly, meaning:
• clean formatting
• correct keyword placement
• job-aligned language
• no graphics that break parsing
Your resume will pass through modern systems and still be readable for actual humans. Because both matter.
Will you tailor the resume for a specific job?
No. We tailor your resume to your job target or industry, so it tells your unique story. We don't recommend rewriting the resume for every role.
